PLA
PLA biodegradable pouches are produced from polylactic acid derived from renewable plant-based feedstocks, providing a certified compostable flexible packaging format for dry food, confectionery, fresh produce, and consumer goods applications where bioplastic packaging aligns with the brand's sustainability positioning or regional regulatory requirements. PLA as a single-component structure offers good optical clarity, stiffness, and printability — performance characteristics are matched to the application during the specification process.
The high surface energy of PLA supports reliable adhesion for water-based and solvent-free ink systems compatible with compostable substrate requirements, enabling high-quality print reproduction without compromising the compostability certification of the finished package. The rigidity of PLA provides good machinability on standard FFS and pre-made pouch filling lines when run at speeds and temperatures appropriate for biopolymer substrates.
PLA pouches are certified to disintegrate under industrial composting conditions in accordance with applicable international standards, and certification documentation is provided to support on-pack compostability claims in regulated markets. Barrier performance is moderate — appropriate for short to medium shelf-life dry products — and should be evaluated against the specific product requirements before specification.
Available in flat three-side seal and other standard pouch formats. Technical converting guidelines are provided to support customers transitioning filling lines from conventional to PLA-based packaging materials.
