Shaped pouches are custom-die-cut flexible packaging formats produced in non-rectangular profiles — including contoured outlines, arched tops, waisted shapes, and product-silhouette formats — designed to create a distinctive shelf presence that differentiates a product from standard rectangular pouch formats. Laminate structures are specified based on the product's barrier requirement and retail channel — transparent constructions are used where product visibility enhances presentation, while high-barrier structures are applied for oxygen and moisture-sensitive products across ambient or refrigerated channels.

The pouch outline is cut to the specified die profile after sealing, with seal widths maintained to ensure structural integrity and leak-free performance across the full perimeter including curved and angled seal sections. Structural engineering of the shaped format accounts for the fill weight, product type, and distribution conditions to ensure that the non-standard shape does not compromise functional performance.

Custom shape design and structural validation are supported during the pre-production process. Print, embossing, matte and gloss finish combinations, and optional closure features including zippers and hang holes can be integrated into the shaped pouch design.
